One of the leading union voices in Australia’s energy transition says skills shortages and delays to renewable energy projects are slowing the country’s shift to clean energy.

National Secretary of the Electrical Trades Union, Michael Wright, says more support is needed for apprentices and their supervisors as demand grows for workers in the electrification sector.

He also says delays in announcing successful projects under government schemes in regional areas are creating uncertainty across the industry.
