Last month, Australia marched in solidarity for those who’ve served, and those who’ve fallen, as the nation commemorated the 110th ANZAC Day and the 111th anniversary of Gallipoli landings.

At 108 years old, SA’s Sergeant Colin Wagener, remains Australia’s oldest surviving WWII veteran, offering a rare window into history, wartime, wisdom and life.

When Mr Wagener returned home from WWII in 1945, he brought with him a unique spread of photography; images he says capture missing moments in wartime history.

As South Australia celebrates the final week of History Month, The Wire spoke with Mr Wagener to hear more on his seasoned insight.
